Ok, so I think I've made it pretty clear I have no love for Chaos Daemons. Got worse last night.

2nd league week. Still 300 points. 1 match of 5+ rounds. The idea as to cross the 4x4 field and end in your opponents deployment zone. Grey Hunters with a Dreadnought in support should own this, right? You'd think so.

Doesn't help my dice rarely rolled over 2 the entire night. And these are my special bolter & chainsword dice that are supposed to be as balanced as dice come, but i swear I roll awful with them. I think it might be time to inquire about some custom Inquisition dice from Chessex.

His army consisted of a unit of Plaguebearers and a f'ing Soulgrinder. Lovely... a bastard son of a lemun russ and a dreadnougt.

The red-headed stepchild of the Chaos Daemons of course comes in first turn. It ends up being on the other side of the table (not saying much as its a 4x4 table) and I consider for a moment just rushing to his zone. But he has range on me regardless, so I hope to take it out quickly and with little casaulties, so i can handle the plaguebearers when they hit the table.

As my Dread approaches the assault cannon hits twice but no rending. The soulgrinder charges... ok, i only have 2 attacks in return to all its, but I go first. Wiff.. Wiff. He gets one pen and one glance in return... pen of a 6. Oh yeah, the plaguebearers came in the second turn as well...

So I think its not all lost yet, I have 2 meltas that could end the soulgrinder. One wiffs the other blows off an arm. Soulgrinder and bearers both fail their assault charge roll. I loss 5 marines prior and thinking close combat is definite i only make sure not to remove my Wulfen, I remove one of my melta. So I get the change to fire again next round, blowing off another arm. Can't avoid close combat this turn however and I get tabled.

Oh the upside I got lots of comments about how well-done my army is. That helps make a stinging defeat a bit easier to take.

Next week is 450 points and capture the flag. One objective in the middle and an infantry model has to take it and take it off your deployment edge, on foot. I'm thinking a dakka pred as support and 2 decked out grey hunter squads.

Oh, and a change of plans for the paint schemes for the two cats. Instead of Bella and Truffles, I'm doing Truffles and Blane. At least Blane will be easy, as he is prime example of a Basement Cat (pure black). I got the models as well and they are PERFECT for wolves. With a astartes standing between them they definitely look intimidating.
